At St Albans United Synagogue, we believe that cheder should be a fun, positive learning experience.
Through a learning programme of study and unique multi-media and crafts activities, which they find both stimulating and appealing, pupils discover Judaism and every aspect of Jewish life, learn Hebrew and about the festivals – and enjoy meeting their friends at the Sunday morning sessions.
Our friendly, warm cheder caters for children aged 4 – 12 years old. Classes are held during term-time, generally every other Sunday morning at 10.30 am – 12.30 pm under the supervision of cheder head, Rebbetzin Alli Sturgess.
Although our cheder is small, this has its advantages, as it allows a very close rapport between teacher and pupil, and enables teaching to be adapted to the needs and pace of each individual pupil.
Pupils’ parents do NOT have to be members of our shul.
