At St Albans United Synagogue, we believe that cheder should be a fun learning experience. Our cheder kids tell us that it really is!
Through a learning programme of study and unique multi-media and crafts activities, which they find both stimulating and appealing, pupils discover Judaism and every aspect of Jewish life, learn Hebrew and about the festivals – and enjoy meeting their friends at the Sunday morning sessions.
Our lively cheder caters for children aged 4 – 12 years old. Classes are held every other Sunday morning at 10.30 am guided by teacher Hadas Bukai, under the overall supervision of cheder head, Rebbetzin Alli Sturgess.
Although our cheder is small, this does have its advantages, as it allows a very close rapport between teacher and pupil, while the teachers can adapt their approach to the needs and pace of each individual pupil.
Pupils’ parents do NOT have to be members of our shul, but can pay termly fees, with ‘quantity’ discounts for a second child or further children.
