Preparing for this important milestone
Our shul is always delighted to help you celebrate this special milestone in your child’s life, right from the beginning of the planning stages. Once you have selected the date (Rabbi Daniel will be happy to help you with this), please inform our administrator on info@stalbanssynagogue.org.uk or 01727 854872, and we will take it from there.
Rabbi Daniel can advise on all aspects of the occasion, including arranging tuition, if required, and obtaining the Bar mitzvah certificate, while Rebbetzin Alli is on hand to do the same for Bat mitzvah girls.
Bar mitzvah boys may be called up to the Torah for the first time during the Shabbat morning service, or by special arrangement, during a weekday Shacharit service.
The girls have a number of choices available to them, including marking their special day at the conclusion of the Shabbat morning service or in the more intimate setting of a Friday night Kabbalat Shabbat service, or if preferred, they can take centre stage at a special Sunday afternoon ceremony.
Our shul can accommodate up to 150 of your family and friends for the big occasion, and our social committee will help plan and serve an appropriate celebration kiddush, tailored to your budget.
